ah, but I've found a rear wheel drive golf cart. a perfect length.
ackermann principle studied, and understood.
A car axle would be too heavy for my project, as I'm only using a 2hp puch moped to push it. A mini-bakbrommer, if you will. thanks for the advice fellas

Homemade

I welded a U shaped steering knuckle, used ball joints of a volkswagen and the rear axles of a volkswagen. The axles can easily be taken of as small units an bolted on the homemad knuckle.
Suspensions are monoshocks from a R1 motorcycle.
I welded the wishbones and used silent blocks from a peugeot, but you can choose any you like.

not a volkswagon, a golf cart, like they use in the sport golfing.

oops- google translates not so well.... maybe I have to learn dutch now. That will be harder than building my bakbrommer!
dutch sounds all like "doop dee en dweeler nooogan morf"
but I love you guys- people from Holland are always nice.
I'm learning alot here so far, now just if I could speak and understand dutch!

this kind of golf cart is what I'll be using for a donor
(they're all rear wheel drive, so the front axle, suspension, and tie rods will all be usable)
a good length and size, yes? since I'll be using a smaller moped, it needs to be like a mini! I will be riding my dogs around soon, and have possibly one of the only bakbrommer in the u.s?

If the 'ackerman-principle' is correct for the dimensions of this
golfkart, it will be quite a short bakbrommer if you have to
apply the same dimensions.

just to give an idea, the Apollo bakbrommer (steering wheels) is about 115cm wide, and has a wheel base of about 195cm.

not that it's the only way to go, but just to give an idea......

mwoah.... The Ackermann principle has not been applied in the steering geometry of the Apollo bakbrommer. At least not in mine. Your tires will wear off faster but hey... are you planning to drive it at 60mph?
